Suspect arrested in pair of bank heists

A Northeast man who allegedly robbed two Mayfair banks last week found himself behind bars hours after police released photos of the crimes to the public.

Steven Thomas Misnik, 33, walked into Citizens Bank at 7327 Frankford Ave. shortly after 12:30 p.m. on Nov. 12, handed a demand note to a teller, obtained an undisclosed amount of cash and fled on foot, authorities said. The following morning, Philadelphia police and the FBI distributed surveillance photos of the robber, whose identity was unknown, to the news media. Within hours, authorities received a tip about the robber’s identity and that he could be found on the 2000 block of E. Madison St. in Kensington. Police arrested Misnik there without incident.

The alleged robber, a resident of the 9300 block of Academy Road, also held up Republic Bank at 7300 Frankford Ave. on Nov. 10, authorities said. He was charged with multiple counts of robbery and remains in custody at Curran-Fromhold Correctional Facility in lieu of $150,000 bail. ••
